DIY: Halloween Brittle

I love using melted chocolate to make desserts because it is so easy to use and you don't have to pre-heat the oven!  Usually I stick to chocolate covered pretzels or oreos, but today I have a brittle recipe that is perfect for Halloween!

Just a few simple steps and you'll have a perfect snack while you watch your favorite Halloween movie!

What you'll need:
Chocolate Chips
Candy Corn M&Ms
Candy Corn
Wax Paper

First, place the wax paper on a tray for your brittle making surface.  Then melt the chocolate chips.  Spread the melted chocolate on the wax paper to make a "chocolate patty".

Next, sprinkle the M&M's and candy corn on the chocolate patty.  Press the candies into the chocolate so they stick better when the chocolate hardens.

Now all you have to do it wait!  Wait an hour or so while the chocolate hardens really well.  You could even put the chocolate into the fridge to speed up the process.  Once hard, break the patty into small pieces - this makes it a "brittle"!

I can imagine putting a few pieces in a plastic bag with an orange ribbon for a gift, or just munching on a few pieces while watching Hocus Pocus!

Enjoy and Happy Halloween!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

I hope you all enjoyed the count down with Hershey Kisses!

As for ONE MORE TIP on how to enjoy these yummy candies... just EAT THEM!

(Who would have thought, right?!)

A wise person once told me that Hershey Kisses are the best candy to eat while on a diet because of all the hard work it takes to unwrap it before eating!  (Pretty genius theory if you ask me!)

Truly Unique: Hershey Kiss Crescent Rolls

Who doesn't LOVE chocolate pastries?

In celebration of the "Week of Hershey Kisses", I was on a hunt for an easy to make chocolate pastry of my own when I decided to combine two awesome things (I bet you can guess at least ONE of the pieces...) Hershey Kisses and Crescent Rolls!

How To:  Make SUPER EASY Hershey Kiss Pastries

Bill of Materials:
Hershey Kisses
Crescent Rolls

First,  unroll crescent rolls from container (off subject... do these round packages terrify anyone other than me when they explode open?!)

Second,  cut crescent rolls in half.

Third, roll up hershey kiss in dough.

Fourth, bake rolls as the package suggests

Fifth, take out of the oven and let cool a few minutes.

Sixth, EAT!  I suggest eating these pastries as soon as possible to fully enjoy the yummy warm roll as well as a melted hershey kiss!

You COULD skip cutting the crescent rolls in half and just double up on the Hershey Kisses!!

DIY Personalized/Themed Hershey Kiss Decorators

Decorating Hershey Kisses with personalized or holiday themed decorations is a really cool way to turn "boring" Hershey Kiss wrappers into part of a party's decor.  I decided to share my experience of creating these faux bottoms in the form of a "How To"!

How To:  Create your own personalized/themed Hershey Kiss decorators

Bill of Materials:
Hershey Kisses (any flavor will do!)
3/4" circle punch
Tape

First, I decided to try this idea out for Valentine's Day, so I made my own printable (which you can find here).

Second, cut the printable into strips (much easier to punch out a circle shape.)

Third, punch out the circle shapes using a 3/4" circle punch.  Or use scissors! (I usually have to punch them out upside down so I can make sure the circle includes all of the picture of word).

Fourth, roll up a small piece of tape and attach paper piece to bottom of a Hershey Kiss.

Ta Da!

All done!

DIY Decorative Candy Wrappers

Sometimes as the hostess of a party you don't have a LOT of time to make delicious treats, or perhaps you want to add another element to a dessert table.  One option is to take candy bars, whatever size, shape, flavor, and cover them with paper to create a treat that matches the decor of your party (or perhaps is just a little cuter than the average candy bar sitting in a dish).

How To:  Create Decorative Candy Wrappers

Bill of Materials:
Candy
Decorative Paper that matches the party decor
Scissors or Paper Cutter
Ruler or Measuring Tape
Tape

First,  measure the size of your candy.  Both width and "around" length to make sure you cut paper long enough to wrap all the way around.

Second: cut paper to appropriate length.

Tip:  If you want to cover the candy with two colors, cut second paper color a bit smaller than the first.

Third, cover the candy by taping one end of the cut piece of paper and wrapping around candy once.  (In my example I had to cut excess paper off because my strips were too long.

Tip:  If you are using two colors, wrap the candy with one color and then again with the second smaller strip of paper.

Fourth, tape other end down.

Done!   Wasn't that super easy?!
